A Dangerously Hilarious Liaison

I'm not Rachel Greene. I am not even going to try and pretend that I would choose Dangerous Liaisons over Weekend at Bernie's. And this video is just one of the many reasons why. The fact that Bernie has prompted this has just cemented my love of all things related to stupid and 80's movies. I've watched this more times than I care to admit and I grin like an idiot each time. However, I'm not sure what these people are talking about with this while 'new dance craze' stuff. We've been doing this since college in the late 90's. We called it 'The Man with One Jell-o Leg.'

And for the record....we did it WAY better than the one white kid (who appears to be in the late stages of rigamortis) they found to do it. Hilarious!

Karma's a Cruel Mistress

Let us rewind to a conversation that I had with my friend Naomi shortly before we left for Puerto Rico.

"Do you think I should bring my computer with me? I might get some work done if we have some downtime," Naomi said.

"I don't know. I don't think I would. What if it gets stolen, or broken? I don't think that's a good idea."

She brought it...it got infested with ants and then was baptized by the stupidity of our neighbors. She freaked out that all of her doctoral work was lost. I went back to bed. (In my defense, I was very tired....and maybe in an Ambien haze.) I waited a few days and then reminded her, "Like I said....I wouldn't bring my computer on vacation."

Jump ahead a few weeks. My portfolio for my master's degree is due on Thursday. Two years worth of papers, data, charts and graphs should all be tied up nicely with a pretty little bow. But what do I have?

A virus. Oh- and a bunch of files that say, "Data corrupted. Cannot open," or some such nonsense.

Karma is cruel, indeed.

Pssst

Today, I go to CSUN for the last time until SEPTEMBER!!! This thing makes me happier than most any other thing in todo el mundo possibly could.

Granted, the buzz is kind of killed when I think that I still have to turn in a boat-load of projects next week....but class, CLASS is over as of 9:30pm! Whoot!

Are You Reading This?

I think my professor might be.

As I have mentioned before, one of my semester long assignments is to observe and keep a moon journal. I feel compelled to mock this assignment on a number of levels. I guess it is supposed to hone our powers of observation or some such nonsense.

Seriously, and if she was such a keen observer, she would have noticed that she put 4of the biggest jokers in the same group. Admittedly, we have had a good time with this nonsense. Last week, we got chastised for not taking our assignment as seriously as she would like.

Worst part...we were actually working and discussing the moon when she yelled at us! I am overwhelmed with righteous indignation.

Let's Hear it for the Hippies!

I am in the middle of a Masters Program in English Education. ENGLISH Education. Fairly subject specific. Think literature, research, writing, methodology, etc. This semester one of my classes is Research Methods in English Education.

Rest assured that I am absolutely tickled with the thought of this class. Giddy with anticipation, actually. Even better, one of our semester long assignments is to observe the moon and keep a moon journal. Seriously. I wish I was kidding. We have been given explicit instructions to NOT look things up online about the moon. We are just to observe and then discuss with our group each week. I'm not positive, but I fear that at some point this assignment will involve singing and group hugs.

Pretty sure my moon journal is going to look a lot like this.

Monday- Clouds, no moon visible
Tuesday- Raining, no moon visible but I am soaking wet.
Wednesday- More rain, no moon visible and I now have a runny nose.
Thursday- I may have pneumonia and went to bed at approx 7pm. Doctors note to follow.
Friday- I have decided that the moon is much like God. I know that it is there, I don't need to see it. Therefore, I oppose this assignment for religious purposes.

These hippies won't get the best of me....I've got a plan, and by my calculations....it's fool proof.
